Ally Howatt
Garth Brooks said, “Country isn’t an image. It’s a way of life put to music. That’s how I try to write my songs. I’ve lived in Caledonia, Ontario my entire life and wouldn’t want it any other way. I love small town people and the way they support one another. I’ve made the best friends in the world in Haldimand County and am so thankful for being able to grow up in such a tight-knit community.
I started singing when I was little but my parents told me not to give up my day job. After a trip to Nashville in 2004, I decided I had to give the music business a shot so I learned to play guitar and I started writing songs. That trip, combined with a little sibling rivalry, led me to creating an album in 2008 called ‘Ride of Your Life.’ The songs are written about experiences that I have had or have seen others go through. The album includes songs about nights with the girls and traditional country heartbreak songs. I perform anywhere that I can, every chance that I get. I have played at Cayuga Speedway, the Havelock Country Jamboree Singing Competition, The Old Mill Concert Series and local charity events. My motto is live, love and dare to dream, because you only get one shot. Don’t leave it on the table.
